Plain, nonfat or lowfat Greek yogurt is one of my favorite foods–that I eat every day. It boasts a great protein-to-calorie ratio and if you choose plain (not vanilla or any other flavored variety) it’s relatively low in natural sugars.
I often eat it plain, as part of a fruit and granola breakfast or as a post-workout snack. But I love using it as an ingredient to make many of my recipes healthier. Check out the guide, 10 Best Ways to Enjoy Greek Yogurt, for new ways to use Greek yogurt.
Which Greek yogurts are best? I look for brands that are high in protein and low in sugar. While most of the plain lowfat or 0% fat Greek yogurts are similar nutritionally, they vary in taste and texture. Some of the brands I recommend include Fage, Chobani, Brown Cow, Dannon Oikos, Skyr, Siggi’s and Wallaby. Find one that you like the taste and texture of because if you don’t like it, you’re not going to eat it.
